We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as an Accounting Supervisor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial processes, a passion for accuracy, and demonstrated leadership capabilities. Experience in the packaging or manufacturing industry will be considered an asset. In this role, you will play a key part in overseeing daily accounting operations and contributing to the financial success of our organization. Responsibilities
- Coordinate, assign, and review the work of clerical staff involved in accounts payable and receivable, payroll administration, financial documentation, insurance claims processing, and collection of overdue accounts.
- Establish efficient work processes, schedules, and procedures while ensuring alignment with other departments and business units.
- Supervise and verify the accuracy of financial transactions and documentation; authorize routine payments, credits, and other transactions in accordance with company policies.
- Oversee the preparation and maintenance of financial records, including general ledger accounts, balance sheets, and profit and loss statements.
- Perform account reconciliations to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Process daily financial transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank uploads.
- Conduct financial audits to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
- Train employees on job responsibilities and company procedures; identify training needs and provide ongoing development support.
- Monitor inventory records and address issues such as negative item balances.
- Ensure the smooth operation of accounting systems and related equipment; arrange maintenance and repair services when required.
- Requisition necessary supplies and materials to support departmental operations.
- Prepare and submit progress reports and documentation to management.
- May perform clerical and financial duties as needed to support the team.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree with a focus on bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field is required. (Mandatory)
- Proven expertise in QuickBooks Online, with advanced knowledge of inventory management. (Mandatory)
- Hands-on experience with Coupa, a comprehensive platform for spend management, supply chain, and finance operations.
- Familiarity with CARM (CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management System) and demonstrated experience in its application.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting-related role
- Proficiency in account reconciliation and conducting financial audits
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and produce accurate reports
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
- Previous experience in the packaging or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
Compensation
CAD $66,430 annually / 35 hours per Week.
