Job summary

AirStart is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join a proactive finance team in Mississauga. You will own core financial operations, improve controls, and support leadership with reporting and audit-ready documentation.

You will manage AR, cash flow, reconciliations, and payroll-related processes in a fast-paced environment with visibility across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting and financial administration.
  • Progress toward CPA designation is an asset but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities to keep the business operating efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage accounts receivable processing, payment applications, and aging records.
  • Assist with customer collections and payment follow-up.
  • Support monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Review revenue allocations and identify discrepancies.
  • Maintain balance sheet and P&L schedules and assist with audits.

What You’ll Be Doing
Financial Operations & Cash Management

You will oversee key day‑to‑day accounting activities that keep the business operating efficiently and accurately, including:

  • Managing accounts receivable processing and payment application
  • Monitoring daily cash flow and bank balances
  • Maintaining accurate A/R aging and customer account records
  • Assisting with customer collections and payment follow-up
  • Supporting monthly bank reconciliations and financial reporting
Accounting & Reporting Support

Working closely with leadership, you will help maintain accurate financial records and support month-end and year-end activities by:

  • Reviewing revenue allocations and identifying discrepancies
  • Maintaining balance sheet and P&L schedules
  • Preparing supporting reports and audit documentation
  • Assisting with external accountant and audit requests
  • Maintaining organized financial documentation and audit trails
Payroll & Benefits Administration

You will play a role in ensuring payroll and employee-related financial processes are executed accurately and on time, including:

  • Reviewing payroll changes and preparing payroll import files
  • Calculating and validating quarterly sales commissions

What We’re Looking For
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in accounting and financial administration
  • Progress toward CPA designation is an asset but not required
Technical Aptitude
  • Strong accounting and reconciliation experience
  • Experience with ERP systems and Dayforce/Ceridian
  • Knowledge of statutory remittances
  • Strong Excel and reporting capabilities
  • Ability to extract, analyze, and validate financial data
