Job summary

Zuma Canada is seeking an experienced bookkeeper to maintain daily entries, investigate discrepancies and support month-end activities at our Chilliwack office.

You will work closely with the accounting lead, review transactions, reconcile bank activity and help improve processes, with a clear path toward building a long-term accounting career.

Qualifications

• Several years of practical bookkeeping or accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of debits, credits, reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Ability to work independently and know when to ask for help.
• Confidence using accounting software and spreadsheets.
• Desire to build a long-term career in accounting and understand the business behind the numbers.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to communicate and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Review transaction accuracy and account coding, investigate discrepancies and resolve exceptions with the accounting team.
• Reconcile bank and credit-card activity and investigate differences.
• Validate automated entries and matches against supporting documents.
• Resolve missing information, duplicate entries, coding errors and routine issues.
• Prepare reconciliations and supporting information for month-end.
• Keep routine accounting work moving during holidays and elevate unusual matters.
• Identify recurring problems and help improve the process.

Job description

Do you know bookkeeping well enough to spot a transaction that looks right but is not? We want someone who investigates discrepancies, understands how daily entries affect the business and sees accounting as a career to keep building.

About The Role

Zuma sells and supports lift equipment and parts across Canada and the United States. You will work closely with our accounting lead, handling everyday bookkeeping and keeping routine work moving when the lead is away.

How we use AI

AI is changing accounting, and we understand the concern about its effect on jobs. At Zuma, a substantial part of our repetitive accounting work is already automated. Our view is clear: automation will handle more routine processing, while experienced people validate results, investigate exceptions and apply judgment. We are building our finance team around that future, and this role exists because that human expertise matters.

You do not need AI experience. You need strong bookkeeping knowledge, curiosity and a willingness to learn new tools and check their work.

A CPA designation is not required. A Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting would be considered an asset, along with the practical experience and curiosity to keep learning and growing. Experience with Odoo, inventory-based businesses or month-end support would be helpful, but these are not requirements.

This is a hands-on accounting position that supports month-end. It does not independently lead the close, prepare financial statements or carry controller responsibilities.
