To learn more about us visit a key member of the Finance team and the Associations broader leadership group the Accounting Manager works closely with the Vice President Finance and Risk Management to support the effective financial operations of the Association. This role is responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial statements, coordinating audits and ensuring efficient accounting processes. The Accounting Manager provides guidance to the finance staff and collaborates across departments to uphold the Associations financial accountability and support its mission-driven programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities
Leadership
  • Supervise and support accounting staff and volunteers fostering growth, development and strong team communication.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, performance, feedback and development processes for accounting staff.
  • Provide support to the broader Association team as needed.
Operations
  • Lead annual financial funder and sales tax (GST/RST) audits and ensure accurate timely reporting.
  • Support development of the annual Association Business Plan and recommend improvements to financial controls and systems.
  • Review financial statements with non‑financial managers and provide training on financial processes and controls.
  • Provide accounting support across departments including the YMCA of Brandon.
Administration
  • Oversee accounting staff scheduling and payroll administration.
  • Monitor internal controls and policies to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Review daily transactions and invoices to ensure accuracy and proper approvals.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements.
Qualifications
  • Recognized Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • 2 years of Accounting experience
  • Experience using computerized accounting software
  • Computer Skills: Excel, Word, Email
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Exceptional leadership abilities
  • Excellent communications skills verbal and written
  • Competent with departmental budgeting and financial management
  • Working with diverse individuals in an office setting
  • Must be able to work independently and as a part of a team
