Job Details

The Service Accounting Manager leads and develops a team of service accountants responsible for providing superior customer service and accounting support to the internal Operations and Sales team as well as external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Oversight: Provide direction, training, and performance management for the Service Accounting team; allocate and monitor workload to ensure efficient processing across entities and regions.
  • Oversee customer escalations, ensuring timely resolution and maintaining strong business relationships.
  • Promote team development through continuous learning, cross‑training, and reinforcing harmonization of processes and workflows for the SA area; define requirements for ERP and other support tools.
  • Support proper integration between the SA function and other functional areas, including non‑financial departments.
  • Oversee and support processing of new agreements, budgets, amendments created by service accountants; oversee end‑to‑end accurate processing of service agreements and Time & Material (T&M) projects; recognize service revenue through the monthly revenue and service project review processes.
  • Support review of agreement contracts to ensure risk mitigation and compliance; review and supervise General Ledger entries and SA team posting activities.
  • Support scheduled billing in accordance with contract requirements and Time & Material billing; review Service contracts for risk mitigation and compliance.
  • Support and process scheduled billing; monitor service costing analysis to support operations team.
  • Cooperate closely with Financial Business Partners on Service performance and forecasting impacts; oversee compliance around service‑specific requirements for projects (e.g., insurances, bonding, liens, indemnifications).
  • Support collections process with service accountants to ensure ongoing progress.
  • Propose process improvements to enhance efficiency, timeliness, and reduce redundancy.
  • Develop and own action plans with finance and operations stakeholders for managing working capital in the SA area.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial and business reporting, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist in financial development of non‑financial employees, including training at locations across the country.
  • ERP system responsibilities for modules within area of responsibility.
  • Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for assigned GL accounts; support month‑end and year‑end close activities.
  • Review general ledger fluctuations and provide variance explanations to management.
  • Support working capital management, communication of forecasts and variances to Operations.
  • Provide operational reporting, audit schedules, and analysis to Accounting and Operations leadership.
  • Support year‑end audits and internal audit requests.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including 4+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting and service‑based financial processes.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
Location and Compensation
  • Location: Vancouver, BC, Canada.
  • Work location: On site.
  • Salary: $70,000 per year.
  • Terms of employment: Full time.
