Accounting Manager
The Accounting Manager will manage the overall financial operations of Manderley Turf Products and will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to top management.
The Accounting Manager will lead departmental staff and maintain the company's accounting systems and implement changes as required. This role will be ideal for an individual who wants to be part of setting the strategic direction for the company but is also comfortable solving the day-to-day operational challenges.
What will YOU be doing as Accounting Manager?
- Provide leadership to the finance team
- Ad hoc reporting to support ever-changing business needs
- Manage the accounting operations including preparing/reviewing of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting
- Prepare, analyze, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual operating results for each department
- Oversee capital asset activity and reconciliations
- Work with operations to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control current processes which impact on customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency
- Work with sales team on product pricing, costing and margins
- Provides advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting
- Manages the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met
- Generation of reports on performance against budgets
- Supporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective
- Ensures rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms
- Responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls
- Hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff
- Other related duties and required or assigned
What YOU bring to the table?
- Minimum 1-3 years’ progressive experience in accounting or similar role
- CPA designation required
- Post-secondary diploma or University degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, and Power BI
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
- Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applications
- Management and or supervisory experience
- Good project management skills and the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to make the necessary decisions to move forward with the work at hand
- Excellent leadership, communication, presentation, problem solving, and organizational skills are essential
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
Compensation 90K to 95K base salary, commensurate with experience.
