Position: Accounting Coordinator

Reports To: Manager, Accounting Operations

Contract Type: Indefinite, Full Time

Job Summary

The Accounting Coordinator supports all aspects of the revenue/receipts/receivables cycle; including managing and recording incoming payments, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring timely collection of outstanding receivables. This role also provides timely support to our membership during peak times including annual membership dues renewal and public practice licensing.

Key Responsibilities:
Billings & Collections
  • Support Annual billing cycles for Membership dues and public practice firm billings;
  • Process online bill payments, credit card payments, billing adjustments and refunds within iMIS;
  • Prepare bank deposits and non-routine invoices;
  • Record EFT & wire transfer payments within iMIS; and
  • Follow up on outstanding dues/fees and facilitate payment.
Financial Reporting and Period End Duties
  • Reconcile daily cash transactions, and follow up with discrepancies;
  • Record fixed assets, reconciling additions, disposals and depreciation;
  • Prepare recurring adjusting journal entries (eg. Revenue allocations, etc.);
  • Update lead sheets including Cash, Accounts Receivable, Investments, Capital Assets and Deferred Revenues; and
  • Perform reasonability analysis on accounting transactions and month end balances.
Communications and Other
  • Respond to member inquiries (phone/email) relating to CPABC Finance and connect members to Membership regulation, PP (Public Practice) and PD (Professional Development) as required;
  • Support annual audit requests; and
  • Additional ad hoc Finance work as assigned.

And other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager, Accounting Operations.

Key Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in an Accounting or Accounts Receivable function;
Demonstrated Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written;
  • A high degree of tact, diplomacy, and professionalism;
  • Intermediate proficiency with MS Office, with a particular focus on Microsoft Excel;
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with minimum supervision;
  • Meticulous attention to detail, refined organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle high volume workloads;
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting or a related discipline would be an asset
  • Familiarity with MS SharePoint would be an asset;
  • Previous experience using a member database (e.g. iMIS) would be preferred;

The starting annual salary for this position is between $51,850.00 and 61,560.00 per annum, based on candidates’ qualifications, experience, and internal parity. Exceptions may be considered with further review.
