Job Summary

As an Accounting & Commodity Tax Specialist, you will play a key role in the Finance team, leveraging your strong accounting knowledge, excellent communication skills and understanding of the full‑cycle accounting process. You will be responsible for supporting both routine and complex accounting activities, including global commodity tax reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and driving process improvements. Whether working independently or within a team, you thrive in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment, contributing to an already exceptional Finance team.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Execute the month‑end close process, including reconciliation of G/L accounts and journal entry posting, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and verification of accounts regarding cash on hand and cash at bank.
  • Prepare, reconcile and analyze various financial accounts, reports and supporting documentation, as required.
  • Support the accounts payable and expense functions as needed.
  • Execute D2L’s global commodity tax compliance function, including the preparation of tax returns in a timely and accurate manner, ensure related payments are made, and liaise with external tax advisers as needed.
  • Support the proposal and global deal desk teams by serving as an in‑house tax specialist in commodity tax matters, as required, to complete successful proposals and/or bids.
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries, providing a positive customer service experience.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, compiling required documentation.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc duties as assigned.

Location Information

This role is open to applicants within Ontario. Our ideal candidate is located in the Kitchener‑Waterloo area and is able to work in a hybrid model at our global HQ (137 Glasgow Street Suite 560, Kitchener).

Base Salary Range

$60,250—$81,500 CAD
