Job description

Position Title: Accounting Associate
Reports To: Manager, Analytics and Accounting
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
In-person position

The Accounting Associate works on the day-to-day tasks to ensure that the accounting and analytics department runs smoothly in a dynamic environment. As the main point of contact, the associate handles inquiries from customers, vendors and staff. Working closely with the Manager of Analytics and Accounting, the associate also plays a key part in identifying and executing initiatives for more effective and efficient operations in the department.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine accounting duties within a fast-paced finance department while adhering to established standards.
  • Process financial records and business transactions such as accounts payable, and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, bank statements, etc.
  • Execute accurate reporting, filing and database management in multiple systems.
  • Verify and process information for payroll under the guidance of the Employment Standards Act.
  • Secure financial information by conducting database backups and maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Track expenditures and ensure internal controls are followed.
  • Perform related clerical duties as needed, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Maintain and optimize accounting systems for efficiency in reporting.
  • Assist in budget management and forecasting.
  • Assist in external reviews and audit processes.
