The Analyst, Balance Sheet, Financial Accounting - Reconciliation contributes to the success of Global Finance by supporting the timely and accurate review of balance sheet accounts within the Financial Accounting Reconciliation team in Canada. The role is responsible for analytical review, account reconciliation, journal entry preparation, SOX compliance, financial reporting support, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure financial integrity, effective controls, and alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

In this role you will:

• Analyze balance sheet accounts for reasonableness through period-over-period reviews and investigation of significant variances and unusual items.
• Monitor and resolve suspense account balances while ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding items.
• Prepare, review, and upload journal entries accurately and within established timelines.
• Investigate reconciliation and accounting issues, obtain explanations from business partners, and communicate findings to management.
• Escalate complex accounting, reconciliation, or system-related issues to appropriate stakeholders when required.
• Monitor daily and monthly foreign exchange rates, maintain currency rate tables, and support related Finance reporting requirements.
• Coordinate the setup of new currencies, maintain supporting documentation, and communicate currency-related changes to Finance users.
• Prepare, maintain, and update SOX documentation and controls for assigned processes.
• Develop and maintain desktop procedures to ensure activities are performed consistently and effectively.
• Support internal and external audit requests by providing accurate documentation and explanations.
• Participate in Accelerate the Close (ATC), continuous improvement, and other process enhancement initiatives.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across multiple business and finance groups while promoting strong controls, risk management, and operational effectiveness.

• You have a university degree in Accounting.
• You have a minimum of 2 years of banking industry experience in accounting, analytical review, internal controls, SOX compliance, audit support, or related functions.
• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issues.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
• You have knowledge of banking financial reporting requirements and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
• You have hands‑on experience using Oracle Analytics, PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office applications.
• You have strong time management and organizational skills and can manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• You have a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and quality.
• You can work independently while demonstrating initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• You are adaptable and willing to take on additional projects and responsibilities as business needs evolve.
• It would be an asset if you hold, or are actively pursuing, a professional accounting designation.
• It would be an asset if you have experience supporting process improvement and finance transformation initiatives.
• Must be available to work overtime during month‑end and quarter‑end periods, as required to support business needs.
