Job summary

MNP is a leading national accounting firm in Canada, offering assurance and accounting services across diverse client needs. This role focuses on the audit process, technical training, and collaborative client engagements within a fast‑moving financial reporting landscape.

As an Accountant in Assurance and Accounting, you will gain experience in IFRS/GAAP/ASPE, set up new client files, and contribute to the preparation of financial statements while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major preferred).
• Prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment.
• Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset.
• Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset.
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop technical skills in compilations, reviews, audits, bookkeeping and tax.
• Develop and apply knowledge of IFRS, GAAP and ASPE.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses; manage multiple files and conduct inventory counts.
• Perform AR, AP, capital asset acquisition/disposition and payroll walk-through with clients.
• Summarize current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheets, income statements and other reports.
• Assess appropriateness of audit evidence for expenses, revenues, assets and liabilities.
• Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in financial entries, documents and reports.
• Establish charts of accounts and prepare postings to accounts.
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings.
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts.
• Contribute to development of new ideas to improve work processes using internal programs and systems.
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.

• Establish charts of accounts and prepare entries for posting to accounts
• Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings, facts and highlights
• Collaborate with client engagement team and build relationships with client contacts
• Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes while effectively using MNP internal programs and systems
• Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary

Skills and Experience

• Completion of, or working towards, a bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance major is preferred)
• Completion of, or working towards, prerequisites for admission into the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) upon commencement of employment
• Previous accounting related office experience is considered an asset
• Customer service and/or client service experience is considered an asset
• Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset

The annual salary range for this position is: $45,000 – $65,000
