Job summary

A leading construction firm in Richmond, British Columbia is seeking a full-time Accountant to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and assist with financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and preferably some accounting experience. Responsibilities
  • Performs clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting.
  • Processes all accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.
  • Assists with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries.
  • Responsible for review and setup of new vendors and vendor changes.
  • Reconciles and records intercompany transactions and departmental reports.
  • Assists with tax compliance and remittances.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.
  • Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting.
  • Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms.
  • Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software is an asset.
