What You'll Do
You’ll play a key role in supporting clients through the full accounting cycle, tax preparation, and compliance process.
Your Primary Duties Will Include
- Compiling and analyzing financial information to prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
- Preparing Compilation Engagements for various business entities.
- Drafting and reviewing management financial statements and related notes.
- Reconciling sub-accounts to control accounts to ensure accuracy and data integrity.
- Preparing reports and financial summaries as requested by clients.
- Gathering and verifying financial data for corporate and personal tax returns.
- Preparing and filing corporate and personal tax returns, along with required working papers.
- Meeting directly with clients to discuss financial statements and resolve tax or accounting queries.
- Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, maintaining integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Assisting managers and partners with tax planning and addressing complex tax matters.
Other Responsibilities
- Support colleagues by answering technical or procedural questions when needed.
- Contribute to engagement planning and documentation (e.g., confirmations, engagement letters, trial balances).
- Assist in all phases of engagements, including report drafting and review.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by managers and partners.
What You’ll Bring
- Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation or working toward one is an asset).
- Proven experience in a public accounting firm, preferably in compilation and tax preparation.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software (e.g., CaseWare, TaxPrep, QuickBooks, Excel).
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
