Job description

Since launching in 2009, Independent Mechanical Supply (IMS) has become GTA contractors’ preferred distributor of plumbing, hydronics, and PVF products. We’re proud to have one of the largest product selections in the industry. Our customers love both our selection and working with our team.

As part of the Finance team, the Accountant will support with bookkeeping, account reconciliation and financial reporting. The role is responsible for a variety of accounting duties including but not limited to ERP account administration, fixed asset administration, journal entries, reconciliations, Accounts Payable, Intercompany transactions and accruals.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Managing and recording daily transactions
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements and reports
  • Financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Cost accounting and variance analysis
  • Treasury and cash management including bank reconciliations
  • Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets
  • Maintaining and reconciling fixed assets schedules
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support financial decision-making
  • Managing and processing invoices payable

Mandatory Requirements
  • Years of Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting
  • Software/System Experience: Proficient Microsoft Office 365 skills
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles
    • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and planning skills
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline driven fast paced environment
