Job Description

As an Access Control Security Technician at Ozz Electric Ltd., you will be responsible for the installation, programming, testing, and servicing of various security systems, including access control systems, intrusion alarms, E-com, DAS, Fiber / Copper Networks, and surveillance systems. You will work on projects of varying complexity, ranging from small to large scale, ensuring systems are installed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Applicants must have a TQ Certificate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and test access control systems (ICT, Axis, 2N, Avigilon, Kantech, Keyscan) and related security equipment.
  • Perform programming and system integration for access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems.
  • Setup, terminate, and test Fiber / Copper networks (Belden, Corning, or similar equipment).
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair malfunctioning security systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers to coordinate the execution of assigned projects, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Provide on-site training to clients on system use and maintenance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure correct installation and setup.
  • Perform system commissioning and provide ongoing technical support to clients.
  • Mentor junior technicians and contribute to continuous improvements in processes and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with security systems, including access control and CCTV systems.
  • Experience with security brands such as ICT, 2N, UNV, Axis, Avigilon, Kantech, Keyscan, or similar systems is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical skills and ability to work with hand tools and standard test instruments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues.
  • Valid security systems installer license or working to acquire.
  • Manufacturer certifications (ICT, 2N, Avigilon, Kantech, Keyscan, etc.) are an asset.
  • IP networking experience is highly valued.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • A TQ certificate.
  • A valid BC driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Familiarity with using Microsoft Office and other documentation software (Adobe, Excel, Smartsheet, Bluebeam) is a plus.
