Job Type

Full-time

THE WORK:

You've Never Been Satisfied with “Good Enough.”

You didn't get into this to manage one piece of a project. You got into it to change how the world gets built.

At Accenture Construct, that's the job. You'll help deliver the data centers, power grids, rail networks, factories and public infrastructure that keep communities moving — smarter, safer and more sustainably.

You'll work alongside people who think big and act bold: project managers, engineers, technologists and strategists who pair real-world delivery with AI. And you won't be handed a slice of it. We take on whole programs, from early strategy through construction and handover, and we stand behind how they land.

Because “good enough” builds the past. You're here to build what's next.

  • Internal Title: Construction Safety Director
    • Provide strategic leadership, direction, and assurance of Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) across the Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE), covering both the Rail, Stations and Systems and Advanced Tunnel, ensuring a proactive safety culture and achievement of project outcomes.
    • The role is accountable for integrating HSW requirements across the owner, designer, and constructor teams, driving collaboration, shared accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Lead and promote a strong, visible safety culture across the integrated SSE project team, embedding “safety-first” behaviours at all levels
  • Act as a senior leader within SSE governance forums, providing direction on HSW strategy, performance, and risks
  • Champion psychological safety, wellbeing, and near-miss reporting culture to drive proactive risk identification and learning
  • Drive engagement initiatives across all delivery partners (STC, client, subcontractors) to ensure consistent standards and behaviours
  • Ensure HSW is fully integrated into the PDB delivery model, influencing design development, constructability, and delivery approaches
  • Collaborate across the owner, designer, and constructor to embed HSW requirements into evolving design and construction planning
  • Provide leadership in resolving cross-functional HSW challenges through collaborative, non-adversarial approaches aligned to PDB principles
  • Support governance frameworks that clearly separate collaboration from formal commitment and maintain transparent decision-making
  • Develop and maintain the SSE Health, Safety & Wellbeing Strategy and Assurance Plan
  • Ensure implementation of compliant HSW management systems aligned with regulatory, client, and ISO standards
  • Establish project-wide standards, procedures, and critical risk controls (e.g., Fatal Risk management, audits, inspections)
  • Provide independent assurance through audits, reviews, and performance oversight across all packages

4. Performance & Risk Management

  • Lead HSW performance monitoring, including KPIs such as TRIR, LTIFR, and leading indicators
  • Analyse trends and root causes (e.g., supervision, competency, process adherence) to inform targeted interventions
  • Oversee incident management, investigations, and implementation of corrective and preventative actions (CAPAs)
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured, shared, and embedded across project teams

5. Governance & Reporting

  • Lead and/or contribute to SHW Leadership Team forums, providing insight into emerging risks, trends, and improvement actions
  • Provide clear, concise reporting to Executive and Board-level stakeholders on HSW performance and risk exposure
  • Support decision-making by ensuring safety implications are fully understood and considered in project changes

6. Contractor & Supply Chain Oversight

  • Ensure all contractors and subcontractors comply with project HSW requirements, standards, and regulatory obligations
  • Drive consistent implementation of HSW practices across all assets and packages
  • Lead engagement with contractors to strengthen supervision, competency, and safety behaviours across the workforce

7. Training, Competency & Capability

  • Oversee HSW training, competency frameworks, and capability development across the project
  • Ensure all personnel are appropriately trained, competent, and aware of risks prior to undertaking work
  • Drive continuous improvement in frontline supervision capability and safety leadership

Key Interfaces

  • Client Executive and Safety Leadership
  • STC Delivery Partner Leadership
  • Design and Engineering teams
  • Construction contractors and subcontractors
  • Project Controls, Commercial, and Quality functions

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

What's in it for you

  • The biggest builds going. Hyperscale data centers, grid and generation, transit and rail, chip fabs, mines, water. If it’s complex and it matters, it’s on our list.
  • You own the outcome. Not a workstream. Not a deliverable. Whether the program lands.
  • AI that shows up on site. Program control that predicts instead of records. You’ll use it, and you’ll help shape it.
  • Scale without the distance. More than 5,000 practitioners across the Americas, EMEA and APAC, on a team small enough that people know your name.
  • Serious investment in you. Leadership development, technical upskilling and certification support.
  • Work that outlasts you. People will use what you build for forty years without knowing your name. That’s the point.
  • Recognition that means something in this industry. Accenture Construct is ranked #6 globally in ENR's 2026 Top 50 Program Management Firms and #4 in Building Design + Construction's Top 80 Construction Management Firms for 2026.

The data centers behind AI. The grid behind the energy transition. The rail, water and airports everything else runs on.

We plan them, engineer them, deliver them and hand them over — and unlike most of this market, we’re on the hook for whether they land on time. More than 5,000 practitioners across the Americas, EMEA and APAC. One team that owns the whole thing.
