Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Academic Standards & Petitions, the Academic Standards and Petitions Coordinator provides excellent service to students, instructors and staff related to petitions and appeals by processing petitions and appeals submitted to U of T Mississauga. The Coordinator supports discretionary decision-making and consideration for students presenting exceptional circumstances.
The Academic Standards and Petitions Coordinator works under the delegated authority of the Committee on Standing to assess and decide whether to grant or refuse petitions submitted to the Office of the Registrar from undergraduate students. This is done through timely resolution of petitions and provision of helpful information to students, including recommendations and referrals to student supports or the development of comprehensive academic plans. The Coordinator escalates any unusual cases to the Assistant Registrar, Academic Standards & Petitions or recommends for inclusion on the Committee on Standing agenda, and will at times serve as secretary to the Committee on Standing.
The Academic Standards and Petitions Coordinator serves as a resource regarding the petitions process and decision-making, and works closely with the Assistant Registrar, Academic Standards & Petitions on enhancements to process, or re-visioning of decision-making principles in light of the constantly evolving student experience and student support.
