Description

The Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Facilitator will work to support students with special education needs to address students learning and behavioural needs. The ABA Facilitator will support the HWCDSB BCBAs central and school staffs with the Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) process supporting school staff with the development and implementation of behaviour support plans and skills building programs under the supervision of a HWCDSB BCBA.

Details of Function

The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position under supervision under a HWCDSB BCBA; it is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties. The ABA Facilitator will :

  • support the BCBA in conducting assessments (e.g. Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA) ABA-based curriculum assessments etc.);
  • support the BCBA in developing function-based strategies for current caseload of ABA referrals;
  • support central and school staff with understanding and selecting function-based strategies for school-based behaviour support plans for implementation in the school environment;
  • use behaviour skills training to coach central and school staff on implementing behaviour support plan strategies and skill building programs;
  • collect graph and analyse baseline and intervention data;
  • with the BCBA offer recommendations for program revisions based on collected data;
  • participate in and where appropriate lead various meetings including but not limited to school parent board and / or community inter-disciplinary teams;
  • contribute to the development and / or updates to student individual education plans (IEP) as appropriate;
  • support and / or facilitate ABA school resource team (SRT) student case consultations;
  • support and / or facilitate the implementation monitoring and evaluation of ABA groups and system programs (e.g. groups based on PEERS curriculum Connect-the-Dots Kindergarten Groups Kindergarten Reception Class ABA summer programs etc.);
  • prepare and support professional development presentations and materials for central and school staff to build capacity in the application of behaviour analytic assessments selection and implementation of function-based strategies embedded in the IEP for classroom application;
  • prepare programming materials; and
  • meet regularly with BCBA for supervision
Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in or completed post-graduate degree in behaviour analysis psychology education or a related field with recognized coursework in behaviour analysis and / or verified course sequence (VCS) in behaviour analysis
  • 1 year of experience providing behaviour analytic services directly to clients / students in a clinical or educational setting
  • Intention to complete supervised hours in alignment with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario
  • Experience with ABA-based curriculum assessments and designing comprehensive ABA programs
Preferences
  • In process of completing (or completed) 2000 hours of supervised practice within the field of ABA under the supervision of a behaviour analyst
  • 3 years of experience providing behaviour analytic services directly to clients / students in a clinical or educational setting
  • Current BMS Certification or equivalent including practical application experience

Applicants will require a valid drivers license and use of a vehicle.
