Job summary

IGG Canada seeks a talented 3D Character Artist to create high- and low-poly character and hard-surface models for a cutting-edge mobile game project, working on-site in Vancouver.

The role requires proficiency in Zbrush, Maya/Max, Substance Painter and Photoshop, plus a strong eye for color and texture. Prior Unreal/Unity and AI tool experience are advantageous in a fast-paced studio environment.

Qualifications

• Portfolio showing character work in realistic styles.
• Fluent in Zbrush, Maya or 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
• Able to create low- and high-poly models with pre-existing art designs.
• Ability to work quickly in a fast-moving environment and communicate with other art teams.
• Experience with Unity or Unreal is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create low- and high-quality models (character and hard surface) with limited polygons.
• Apply hand-painted PBR textures; strong color sense.
• Collaborate with other art teams to improve character quality.
• Iterate on sketches and add detail.
• Multitask related assets and assets integration into game engine.
• Experience with AI tools is a plus.
• Experience with Unity or Unreal is a plus.

Location: 8th floor - 988 West Broadway, Vancouver (fully on-site)

Employment Terms:

• Less than 1 year of relevant experience:Initial 3-month contract
• 1-3 years of relevant experience:Initial 1-year contract
• More than 3 years of relevant experience:Permanent position

Job Responsibilities:

• Able to create low & high-quality models (character and hard surface) with limited polygons in short time period base on the pre-existing art designs;
• Need to be proficient in the application of hand-painted PBR, understand the logic of card rendering, and have a good sense of color compositions and overall aesthetics.
• Communicate with other art-related subdivisions, improving the overall character quality.
• Able to iterate on sketches (eg. adding more detail)
• Able to multitask many related elements
• Work exp. with AI tools is a plus.
• Exp. with Unity is a big plus.

Requirements:

• Fluent in Zbrush, Maya or Max, Substance Painter, and Photoshop.
• Portfolio displaying a variety of professional and personal pieces in different art styles (realistic style is a must), and must include character work.
• Versatile, flexible, and willing to do what's needed in a fast-moving environment.
• Can work well both independently and closely with other artists.
• Able to adopt fast-past work environment
• Good verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada - we are unable to sponsor work permits for candidates applying for this position.
• Previous experience with the development and shipment of AAA titles is a bonus.
• Experience working and placing assets into a game engine (Unreal, Unity) is a plus.
