Job summary

Lakeridge Health in Ajax-Pickering is seeking an Ot/Pt Assistant for a temporary part-time position within the LHAP Healthy Aging program. You will deliver and monitor various restoration and exercise activities under prescription from the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, and assist with equipment, treatment setup, and patient mobility.

Ideal candidates are graduates of an Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant program, with inpatient acute care experience, CPR, and strong teamwork,

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant program.
• Inpatient Acute Care experience.
• Current CPR certification.
• Able to lift, turn and transfer patients manually or with aids.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Familiarity with hospital physiotherapy modalities is an asset.
• Commitment to Lakeridge Health safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide and monitor functional restoration and exercise programs under OT/PT prescription.
• Give timely feedback to supervising therapists on patient status and response.
• Assist in department maintenance, equipment and inventory of supplies.
• Set up classes for activities and assist with ADL treatment.
• Assist with wheelchair maintenance and mobility equipment setup.
• Support PT/OT to increase patient mobility function.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Wage Schedule: $35.720 - $37.710 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities

Providing and monitoring various functional restoration and exercise programs under prescription of the Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist with appropriate use of related equipment; providing timely feedback to supervising therapists regarding patient status and response to treatment; assisting in the maintenance of the department including physical environment, equipment and inventory of supplies; setting up class for activities; assisting with ADL treatment and wheelchair maintenance/set-up; assisting the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist to increase level of mobility function; and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant Program of an accredited College;
• Inpatient Acute Care experience;
• Current CPR certification;
• Able to maintain statistical data and general department maintenance duties;
• Able to lift, turn, transfer patients manually and with mechanical aids;
• Effective verbal and written communication skills;
• Proven interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills;
• Proven team player in a multidisciplinary team;
• Experience working with therapeutic modalities in a hospital physiotherapy department is an asset;
• Must have a satisfactory performance record;
