Job summary

Lakeridge Health Oshawa is seeking an Ot/Pt Assistant on a casual part-time basis within the Ambulatory Rehab Centre and Healthy Aging program. The role reports to the Patient Care Manager and supports the physiotherapist in delivering musculoskeletal rehabilitation and related activities.

The position requires graduation from an Accredited OT/PT Assistant program, outpatient experience preferred, CPR certification, strong organizational and communication skills, and the physical ability to work

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Occupational/Physiotherapy Assistant Program of an accredited College or an equivalent combination of education and experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant.
• Outpatient patient care experience is preferred.
• Current CPR certification, is required.
• Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and apply critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to apply modalities safely and appropriately.
• Able to maintain statistical data and general department maintenance duties.
• Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations.
• Demonstrated good communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community.
• Ability to collaborate with inter-professional healthcare teams and involving team members in patient treatment as required.
• Physically able to meet the demands of a busy area including lifting, bending, reaching and standing for extended periods.
