Interim Replacement Child and Youth Worker St. Mary School

The Northwest Catholic District School Board would like to invite applications for a full time (35 hours/week) Interim Replacement Child and Youth Worker commencing September 2, 2025 and terminating on December 19, 2025.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Support students on a one to one basis who require extensive social, emotional and behavioural assistance
  • Provide supervision of student(s)
  • Implement proactive strategies to de-escalate negative behavior
  • Work with the special education teacher, classroom teacher and school administrator to assist in the development of programming to meet the student's needs
  • Assist school staff in developing and implementing crisis management plans
  • Maintain records as required pursuant to policies and procedures
  • Communicate to appropriate individuals on student's needs and progress, including behaviour tracking, books for parents, etc.
  • Assist with daily behavior management program
  • Act as a member of a Collaborative Team (CT) and attend CT meetings and Case Conferences as required
  • Assist staff with strategies regarding behavior management
  • When required, designated CYCW-Intensive Support-training other Board members in BMS
Qualifications
  • Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma or equivalent (3 year)
  • A member of the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care
  • Minimum of one (1) year of similar work experience
  • BMS (Behavioural Management System) and Applied Behaviour Analysis Training
  • Sound decision making skills, take initiative, sound judgment and resourceful
  • Able to plan work to achieve departmental goals and desired outcomes
  • Demonstrate the ability to clearly communicate in both verbal and written form
  • First Aid Certificate (an asset)
  • Experience supporting students with autism would be an asset
  • Have a reliable vehicle and a valid Ontario driver's license as travel throughout the region may be required
