Job summary

RBC Wealth Management is offering Winter co‑op opportunities across several Technology/Developer roles in Toronto. Interns will participate in the full software lifecycle, contribute to web apps, and support production systems.

Strong programming skills and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in a fast-paced financial services environment. Eligibility includes returning to school after the term and a mandatory term for graduation.

Qualifications

  • Major in computer science or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Experience in SQL, C#, Java, NodeJS, Python, and Microsoft technologies (school projects count).
  • Java 8+ and Spring Framework (Spring Boot) experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Web technologies such as HTML, HTTP, JavaScript and CSS.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in all parts of the software development lifecycle; design, implement, and roll out production systems.
  • Create and review technical design documents; facilitate design and troubleshooting meetings.
  • Contribute to development and enhancement of web applications.
  • Monitor email queues and handle issues promptly; create ServiceNow tickets as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge documents and assist in investigating issues using available resources.
  • Ensure availability of software solutions and data integration batch jobs; collaborate with senior engineers on larger features.
  • Translate requirements into test strategies; prepare test documentation and execute tests.
  • Support access reviews and recertification; advise stakeholders on RBC's compliance standards.

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking Winter co‑ops across several Technology/Developer roles (including but not limited to the following: Software Developer, Quant Developer, Operation Analyst and Cybersecurity, Fixed Income Performance Team Support, IT Risk Analyst, and QA Automation Analyst) to join the RBC Wealth Management Team. What will you do?
  • Participate in all parts of software development lifecycle – design, implementation, and rollout of production systems
  • Create and review technical design documents, understand how the design will be used in the code development process, and facilitate meetings to design, troubleshoot, and enhancements development
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of new and existing web applications.
  • Monitoring email queue closely and picking up issues/requests in a timely manner
  • Create ServiceNow tickets and assign them to the appropriate support teams
  • Create and maintain knowledge documents
  • Utilizing all available resources to perform issue investigation and troubleshooting e.g. documentation, escalations etc.
  • Monitoring and improving the availability of our software solutions and data integration batch jobs.
  • Start developing larger features for projects by working with Senior Engineers
  • Designing, modifying, developing, writing and implementing software programming applications for target system using agile methods.
  • Analyze requirements, create test strategy, prepare test documentation and execute test
  • Conduct manual access reviews and role recertification
  • Provide guidance to business and technical stakeholders on RBC's compliance standards
  • Engage in organization level remediation planning
  • Manage and conduct Non-Personal ID & Password Access Management remediation project
What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Major in computer science or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Experience in SQL, C#, Java, NodeJS, Python, and Microsoft technologies can be beneficial (school project experience counts)
  • Java 8+ and Spring Framework (Spring Boot)
  • Experience with Web technologies such as HTML, HTTP, Java script and CSS
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to change
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both business users and technical individuals

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of Active directory
  • Understanding of Web FE development frameworks and libraries such as Angular and React
  • Understanding of trading systems such as Bloomberg/Reuters products
  • Experience working within professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source code management, build processes and testing.
Eligibility
  • Be returning to school after the work term end-date;
  • If you are not returning to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component to graduate successfully
