Job summary

Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for Fort Albany, ON. This permanent full-time position offers a competitive hourly rate and opportunities to contribute to patient care across the six communities WAHA serves.

The role requires a Diploma in Nursing with CNO registration, BLS/ACLS/CPR and First Aid certification, and a willingness to relocate. WAHA provides relocation and housing support, a pension plan, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Registered with College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
  • Certification in BLS, ACLS, CPR and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist health care practitioners during examinations or treatments.
  • Engage in community program development.
  • Monitor patients and advise physician of any changes in patients' condition.
  • Participate in community needs assessment.
  • Address and document symptoms and changes in patients’ conditions.
  • Assess patients to identify appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary health team to plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate patient care with patients and families.
  • Conduct disease screening.
  • Deliver health education programs.
  • Deliver immunization programs.
  • Dispense and administer medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
  • Engage in research activities related to nursing.
  • Manage home care cases.
  • Operate or monitor medical apparatus or equipment.
  • Provide nursing care.
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses and other nursing staff.
  • Day, Night, On-Call, Overtime, Weekend/Work must be completed at the physical location, no option to work remotely.
