Position Overview:

Brief Services provides Children’s Mental Health services in a coordinated, collaborative and integrated way. This position would provide culturally relevant mental health services and supports for Anishinabek children and youth who are experiencing difficulty functioning in their home, community and/or school environment due to cross-cultural, social, emotional and/or trauma related needs. The goal of the program is to provide quick access to address immediate or presenting issues for children and youth under the age of 18. Brief services will focus on reducing the severity of and/or remedying the social, behavioral, emotional, and self-regulation problems of children and youth.

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Clinical Lead Brief Services will provide culturally, timely and effective mental health intervention. With the support of this worker, there should be a reduction for the need for more intensive interventions, improve functioning, enhance awareness and understanding of the presenting problem and help develop coping skills for the children and youth.

This position is responsible to ensure program delivery is consistent with the philosophy, approach, goals and learning environment established by Dilico Anishinabek Family Care, which will ensure the cultural, social, emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of children/youth and their families.

Qualifications and Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree of Indigenous Learning, Social Work, or Psychology is required.
  • three years related experience working with Anishinabek children/youth/families.
  • three years’ experience developing treatment goals with clinical milestones and measurable and objective outcomes for children and youth
  • demonstrated skills in planning and delivering multi-faceted culturally informed interventions to address cross-cultural, social, emotional and/or trauma related needs.
  • satisfactory Criminal Records Search;
  • must possess a valid Standard First Aid/CPR Certificate or be willing to obtain one;
    in relation to service requirements, as determined by the Day Treatment Services Manager or designate.
  • ability to work flexible hours;
  • work at an alternate agency site in same role for the duration of shift;
  • must possess a Class "G" Driver’s License and have access to a personal vehicle;
  • must participate in cultural, social, recreational program activities.
  • Must complete and qualify for certification of program related clinical assessment tools.
Hours of Work: 32.5 hours per week
