POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Working to promote excellence, quality patient/client care and high professional standards, the Speech Language Pathologist will assess, treat and program for the inpatient units. He/she will work in an acute care setting and will also program for a Communications Disorder's Assistant. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department to which s/he is assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• o Master's Degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology
• o Registration with CASLPO
• o VFSA experience an asset
• o Experience with acquired communications and swallowing disorders and familiarity with providing service in an acute care setting preferred
• o Applies knowledge, skills, judgment and competencies required for safe, independent and inter-disciplinary practice by meeting professional practice standards as outlined by the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists and related professional associations
• o Applied NH values and professional practice standards to patient/client care and service.
• o Integrates reflection, critical thinking, education, expanded scope of practice and relevant practical experience in problem solving
• o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, communication, judgment, and decision-making skills
• o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
• o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
• o Consistent and regular attendance required
