Privacy Software Engineer

Brazil LATAM

Rate: $45-48 / hr (DOE)

About the Role

We are seeking a Privacy Software Engineer who can design and deliver working prototypes of privacy‑enhancing technologies while reasoning through complex data protection and privacy challenges. The ideal candidate will bridge engineering rigor with a deep understanding of privacy principles ensuring that privacy‑by‑design is embedded into data systems from the ground up.

Core Need

Someone who can deliver working privacy enhancing software prototypes and reason through complex privacy questions.

Technical Baseline

• Experience building software in open‑source distributed systems: Kafka, Redis, HDFS, AWS or similar stacks
• Go or Java skills

Can Build

• Anonymization / redaction pipelines
• k‑anonymity frameworks
• Synthetic data generators
• LLM guardrails
• Data minimization layers

Familiar With Privacy‑by‑Design Controls

• Data flow mapping
• Purpose limitation
• Access scoping
• Secure logging
• Retention automation

Advisory mindset. Can answer ad‑hoc product / legal questions and write short guidance.

Privacy Domain Depth

• Knows the difference between pseudonymization and anonymization.
• Can assess re‑identification risk quantitatively.
• Can explain and apply regulator opinions (EDPB, CNIL, FTC) to technical cases.

Preferred Skills

• Also understands security: OWASP Top 10 for web, mobile and emerging LLM threat vectors.
