Overview:
We are looking for an experienced leader to join the Enterprise Architecture team in the Business Technology (BT) organization. The Enterprise Architect informs the business domain strategy and translates the strategy into a technical roadmap. The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for defining the overall architecture for their business domain, in alignment with BT’s architectural principles. Additionally, this role will provide expertise and guidance to Product Owners, Business Technology Partners, and Engineers as needed. The Enterprise Architect will report to the Enterprise Architecture Lead.
Essential Functions:
- Designs, owns, and maintains the overall business and technical architecture for the domain.
- Aligns the domain architecture with the enterprise architecture in accordance with BT’s strategy, and socializes the domain architecture vision, models, and goals.
- Defines realistic mid- to long-term (3-5 year) roadmaps and strategy for the domain, with awareness of product backlogs, enterprise resourcing, and interdependencies together with Business Technology Partner (BTP) counterpart.
- Establishes or has substantial influence on long-term organization vision and strategy across markets, functions, divisions, regions, and/or countries.
- Participates in the development of a multi-year roadmap for the enterprise and architecture strategy.
- Examines the company's current business capabilities within the business domain, and aligns the domain architecture with the business capability map.
- Reviews, analyzes, and aligns business structures and processes with business goals.
- Defines patterns for reuse to drive standardization based on an assessment of capabilities.
- Proposes architectural changes to key platforms in order to deliver an industry-leading customer experience.
- Works with BTPs and Product/Platform Owners (POs) to align their roadmaps with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack, and continuously identifies new and improved approaches to designing technical solutions.
- Supports Product/Platform teams in defining their roadmap for improving engineering practices and quality.
- Helps Product/Platform teams surface problems and remove technical impediments.
- Shares responsibility with Product Owners for building reusable and scalable components.
- Works closely with the procurement team to optimize cost, prevent redundancy, and increase efficiency through continuous process improvement.
- Works closely with the security team to ensure compliance with various industry best practices and certifications, identify any gaps in the risk profile of the domain, and take measures to ensure confidentiality, integrity, security, and reliability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent experience in the field.
- 10+ years of experience as Solution/Enterprise Architect in a technology/digital organization at a multinational company.
- Demonstrated experience building and maintaining business capability maps.
- In-depth technological knowledge and experience to incorporate design choices and constraints in the architecture.
- Deep understanding of the interdependencies between enterprise strategy and IT developments.
- Ability to leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize reusable patterns.
- Demonstrated ability to influence key business and technology stakeholders (e.g., Product and Platform Owners).
- Understanding and knowledge of architectural frameworks such as TOGAF and IAF.
- Understanding of risk requirements, security, and reliability at the OS-, middleware- and application-level.
- Driven “leader-doer” that is prepared to roll up their sleeves and not afraid to challenge the status quo.
- Willingness to take ownership of responsibilities outside immediate sphere of influence (e.g., business domain).
Preferred Experience & Domain Knowledge:
- Lead the development and implementation of information architecture strategies across all digital platforms.
- Conduct user research, stakeholder interviews, and competitive analysis to understand user needs and inform information architecture decisions.
- Create and maintain sitemaps, user flows, wireframes, taxonomies, metadata schemas, and other IA deliverables.
- Collaborate with Data Scientists and Engineers to ensure integration of information architecture and data governance.
- Develop and maintain documentation of information architecture standards and guidelines.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in information architecture and user experience.
- Mentor and guide team members on information architecture principles and processes.
Present information architecture solutions and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
