Syngenia seeks a senior engineering project leader in Belgium to drive technical execution of complex defence systems. You will coordinate engineering, industrialisation, production, and QA across teams and subcontractors, ensuring alignment with contract scopes and schedules.

Fluency in French and English is essential; travel to Belgium and abroad may be required. A Master’s degree in engineering and strong systems thinking are needed to manage risks and deliver results on high-stakes

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in technical project management, programme management, systems engineering, product development, or systems integration.
  • Solid understanding of development, industrialisation, qualification, production, and integrated logistics support processes.
  • Ability to interpret and manage contractual and technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and making decisions on complex technical matters.
  • Strong planning, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Structured, proactive, autonomous, and results-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.

Mission
  • Leading the technical execution of complex defence systems programmes, from development and industrialisation through to qualification, production, commissioning, and technical support.
  • Translating contractual requirements into a technical Scope of Work, deliverables, responsibilities, and project requirements.
  • Coordinating the technical activities of Engineering, Industrialisation, Production, Quality, ILS, Procurement, Supply Chain, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring that products and technical deliverables comply with contractual requirements, project scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and programme governance.
  • Managing technical relationships with clients, partners, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitoring technical milestones, resources, workloads, budgets, risks, and opportunities, and implementing mitigation measures when required.
  • Providing clear technical reporting to the programme management team and supporting the Program Manager with cost and progress monitoring.
  • Ensuring the timely delivery of design, validation, testing, qualification, assembly, and commissioning documentation.

Profile
  • A Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, electronic, software, vehicle, or complex systems integration.
  • Proven experience in technical project management, programme management, systems engineering, product development, or systems integration.
  • A solid understanding of development, industrialisation, qualification, production, and integrated logistics support processes.
  • The ability to interpret and manage contractual and technical requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and making decisions on complex technical matters.
  • Strong planning, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A structured, proactive, autonomous, and results-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Availability for occasional short assignments in Belgium and abroad.
  • Experience in defence, aerospace, railway, automotive, naval, or another regulated industrial sector is an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management, systems engineering, requirements management, IVVQ, configuration management, change management, or PMI methodologies is an advantage.
