Axis Group is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join their Liability team in Antwerp. The successful candidate will manage large, complex underwriting cases and contribute to business development while maintaining strong relationships with clients and brokers.

The ideal applicant will hold a relevant degree, have extensive experience in Liability Underwriting, and possess strong analytical and communication skills in both English and Dutch. The role offers a permanent contract with performance-based benefits in an international environment.

Our client is committed to providing the perfect insurance solutions and is currently seeking a new colleague with extensive experience in Liability Underwriting to help make this a reality.

We currently have an opening for a Senior Underwriter on the Liability team at our client’s office in Antwerp. In this role, you will handle large, complex, or specialized cases with the goal of achieving new business and retention targets. You will spend most of your time making underwriting decisions, actively contributing to business development, and liaising with clients and brokers. You will work independently and have direct contact with clients and third parties, and serve as a senior team member and point of contact for junior colleagues. You possess strong analytical skills, communication skills, and a talent for relationship management.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing complex and/or large portfolios and making timely underwriting decisions within the company’s objectives, authority, and risk appetite.
• Taking full management and responsibility for your portfolio of large and complex accounts, and achieving KPIs in accordance with business plans.
• Contributing to the development of segment and local business development plans with a focus on new business opportunities.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with underwriting and commercial teams and other stakeholders.
• Utilizing available underwriting tools, rating engines, and technical insights to provide tailored solutions.
• Communicating propositions and risk appetite clearly and positively.

Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree and have extensive experience in Liability Underwriting, with strong technical knowledge that can be clearly articulated during the underwriting process.
• Be analytical, take ownership, and have a proven track record of achieving business objectives.
• Have a broad internal and external network, both within Liability and beyond.
• Be a true team player and be seen as a role model for colleagues.
• Be fluent in English and Dutch and possess strong commercial skills.
