Powernaut BV in Ghent, Belgium is seeking a Senior Product Manager to translate a long-term product vision into a sequenced roadmap while balancing multi-year strategy with the immediate queue. You’ll frame problems, validate with prototypes, and align with engineers, sales and customers to ship meaningful product increments.
Experience in technical B2B software and a track record of shipped products is essential.
Full-time Ghent, Belgium (hybrid) €80-120k fully loaded + stock options
Renewable energy is scaling. The software to run it isn't. Generation has moved out of a few hundred power plants and into millions of homes and businesses.
Powernaut builds the Energy Operations Workspace - the software energy companies use to operate on that new shape of the grid.
Turn our long-term product vision into what ships next.
We build for a market where agents are starting to do real operational work. How much of an energy company's operation can actually be run that way, with humans on the calls that matter, is a question we answer every week.
The long-term direction is set together with the founders. You make it real:
Translate it into a sequenced roadmap.
Decide what ships this quarter and what waits.
Keep each release moving along that line rather than sideways.
Own the framework we use to say yes and no - to customers, to sales, and to us.
Three things make this role different from a standard PM seat:
You hold two horizons at once. The multi-year picture and the immediate queue. You can explain to an engineer, a customer or a colleague why the thing being built this week serves what we're building over the next three years.
You don't write specs. Our engineers run the double diamond themselves: they shape, build and ship their own slices and talk to customers directly. Your leverage is framing the right problem, deciding its priority, and carrying market knowledge they don't have time to gather. You never hand them a requirements document.
You build to learn. You prototype and experiment with agentic tooling, not to hand engineers a solution, but to know first-hand what is possible, how fast, and at what cost. That is what makes your framing and your "not yet" credible in the room.
Frame the problem, not the solution: Bring a sharp, well-evidenced problem definition and the priority it deserves. Use prototypes to sharpen the problem and test what's possible; the solution stays with the engineers.
Understand the market better than anyone here: Go to trade shows, sit in customer conversations, follow the regulation and the competition. Mine the commercial team continuously - they carry knowledge that never makes it into writing.
Bring the customer's reality back into the vision: The founders set direction; you carry what customers actually do and say back into it, including when it contradicts what we believed. You are the person in the room who talked to a retailer's ops team this week.
Turn forward-deployed work into product: Our engineers sit with customers until things work. You extract what those deployments teach us and decide what becomes part of the product. You hold the line between delivery and product: what becomes product, what stays services, what we don't do. The founders back the no.
Build for malleability: Our customers shape their own edge with agents inside the workspace. Ask of every feature whether it makes that easier or harder.
Sequence and decide: Weigh customer demand, market timing and effort. Say what ships now, what waits and what we don't build, and make the reasoning explicit. You're accountable for the roadmap being the right bets, explicitly reasoned and re-cut when evidence changes - not for delivery dates. Engineers own shipping.
Judge whether it worked: Enterprise gives you long cycles and few data points. Define what success looks like before something ships - depth of use inside named accounts, time to first value, how the renewal conversation changes - then triangulate instead of waiting for a clean metric.
Product sits at the centre of how we build, and the shape of this role will move as the product and the team do.
You'll work shoulder to shoulder with the founders from day one, with a short path from your idea to real users.
Scope follows demonstrated impact rather than arriving with the title.
You're as comfortable with a three-year direction as with this week's trade-offs, and you build rather than only describe.
Experience: 5+ years in product management on technical B2B software sold to enterprises, with a track record of things that shipped *and* got used.
Two horizons: You hold a long-term direction and translate it into concrete near-term priorities without losing either.
Hands-on: You prototype, dig into the data yourself, and are genuinely fluent with AI and agentic tooling - including the judgment to know when its output is good enough and when it isn't. No CS degree needed.
Technical credibility: You read an API spec, reason about data models and integrations, and challenge engineers on their own terms.
Judgment under enterprise conditions: Long cycles, few data points, loud customers. You decide with the evidence available, communicate the reasoning, and can say "not yet" and make it stick.
Domain: Energy, grid, or another regulated industrial domain is a strong plus. Genuine curiosity about the energy transition is not optional - you'll be joining us at trade shows & talking to customers constantly.
Europe-based and willing to travel frequently.
Able to work from our Ghent HQ regularly.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Compensation: A competitive salary package with participation in our attractive stock option plan.
Influence: Real say in what we build, with a direct line to the founders.
Environment: The Wintercircus in Ghent, a hub that fits the spirit of a fast-growing, innovative startup.
Team: A dynamic, expert group of quick-thinking, fast-acting people who care about what they do.
Purpose: The profound satisfaction of making a lasting positive impact on our planet by accelerating the climate transition.
