Randstad seeks a Senior Research Associate specializing in Gas Chromatography to lead analytical work in a high‑tech laboratory in Kortrijk, Belgium. The role centers on GC analyses, sample prep, data evaluation, and reporting in English, with mentoring responsibilities for teammates.

You will operate GC‑FID/GC‑MS systems, perform derivatization and SPE, and contribute to method development in a collaborative, quality‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field
• At least 3 years of hands-on GC experience with GC systems
• Experience with GC-FID, GC-MS, and sample prep techniques (SPE, liquid extraction, derivatization)
• Strong documentation practices and attention to detail
• Clear English report-writing and strong communication skills
• Able to work independently and mentor colleagues

Responsabilités

• Perform GC analyses on diverse samples and matrices
• Handle sample preparation, instrument operation, data acquisition and processing
• Organize daily lab activities and manage instrument time
• Critically evaluate data and identify anomalies for further investigation
• Document experiments and prepare technical reports in English
• Support method development and troubleshoot instrument issues
• Mentor colleagues in analytical workflows
