Data Wizards is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join a fraud detection project in Belgium. You will strengthen models, experiment with features, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to uncover and mitigate fraud risks.

You will work with large, complex datasets using SQL and Python, applying ML, graph analytics, and anomaly detection to translate business needs into scalable solutions. This role offers growth within a flexible, consulting environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science experience with fraud detection focus.
• Master's in statistics, CS or engineering; PhD is a plus.
• Strong Python, SQL, and distributed processing skills.

Responsabilités

• Strengthen fraud models by improving data collection, labeling, structuring and feature engineering.
• Design, build and refine fraud detection models using ML, graph analytics, anomaly detection and behavioral analytics.
• Turn large volumes of transactional and customer data into actionable fraud intelligence via feature engineering, data enrichment and pattern discovery.
• Partner with Fraud Ops, Risk, Compliance and Product to spot trends and translate needs into scalable analytics solutions.
• Investigate complex fraud schemes and build proactive detection strategies.
• As a consulting company, responsibilities may evolve and vary.

We are currently looking for a senior data scientist for a fraud detection project where you would do:

• Strengthening our fraud models by improving how we collect, label, structure and engineer features from complex transactional and behavioral data
• Designing, building and continuously refining fraud detection models using machine learning, graph analytics, anomaly detection and behavioral analytics
• Turning large volumes of transactional and customer data into actionable fraud intelligence through feature engineering, data enrichment and pattern discovery
• Partnering with Fraud Operations, Risk, Compliance and Product teams to spot emerging fraud trends and translate business needs into scalable analytical solutions
• Digging into complex fraud schemes, uncovering new attack vectors and building proactive detection strategies that protect the business financially and reputationally

You’re a step closer to joining our team if you bring:

Background

• At least 5 years of experience in data science, with a solid grounding in fraud detection, ideally within the financial sector
• A Master's degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, computer science or engineering. A PhD is a plus, and candidates with a different academic background but strong analytical skills are equally welcome

Technical Skills

• Hands‑on experience processing large‑scale, complex transactional and behavioral datasets using SQL, Python (Pandas) and distributed processing frameworks such as Spark or Hadoop
• Proven ability to apply supervised and unsupervised machine learning, anomaly detection, graph analytics and network analysis to detect, investigate and prevent fraud. Experience with generative AI is a plus
• Strong Python skills, with experience deploying AI applications into production; familiarity with Java is a plus
