• Design strategies to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency, while producing standards and templates for power quality monitoring, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance logs for critical systems.

About the job

The Data Center team designs and operates electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems in data centers. Facilities Technicians operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions, including heating and cooling, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and monitoring systems. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing data center systems such as piping and electrical or mechanical components to ensure reliability and safety.

As an advocate for best practices, you develop approaches to reduce operational costs while improving data center efficiency. You ensure environmental and safety standards are met, identify problems, and perform repairs quickly. In emergency situations, you manage performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time.

Role scope includes operating, monitoring, and supporting physical facilities conditions for data centers. The AI and Infrastructure team enables customers with scalable, reliable infrastructure and AI capabilities. This role contributes to the development and operation of hyperscale computing infrastructure.

• Maintain uptime for electrical distribution and power monitoring systems by conducting regular inspections, executing repairs, and troubleshooting critical data center equipment to maintain optimal functionality and reliability.
• Oversee mission-critical control room operations, monitoring information streams to detect abnormal conditions and make accurate, real-time decisions that ensure continuous system stability and performance.
• Design strategies to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency, while producing standards and templates for power quality monitoring, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance logs for critical systems.
• Demonstrate strict adherence to the site’s environmental health and safety policies, ensuring all operational tasks and maintenance procedures align with established safety protocols and regulations.

Minimum qualifications

• Associate's degree, trade school certification or other verifiable training in a relevant technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 7 years of experience in mission-critical facility maintenance and operations, including switching on High Voltage (HV) and Medium Voltage (MV) equipment.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical distribution systems.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience planning and executing installation, commissioning, and equipment startup, following industry best practices and protocols.
• Knowledge of meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting using standard hand tools, digital metering, or diagnostic equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems with focus on high and medium voltage installation, including protection and controls.
• Understanding of mechanical systems in data center environments and controls/monitoring systems.
• Ability to communicate in English and French fluently to support client relationships in the region.
• Excellent written, verbal communication and teamwork skills with the ability to prioritize work efficiently.
