UCB invites applications for a Principal Computational Methodologist in our Advanced Methods and Data Science team within Biometrics and Data Science, based in Slough, UK, with flexible options for Brussels or Raleigh.

In this role, you will lead AI/ML projects across clinical development, biomarker discovery, and operational efficiency, designing and deploying deep learning models and generative AI solutions.

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Computational Biology, Statistical Genetics, Mathematics or related field.
• Industry experience in pharma, clinical development, life sciences or regulated data environments.
• Proficient in Python or R and able to guide others in coding.
• Knowledge of supervised, unsupervised, Bayesian and deep learning methods.
• Experience with ML infrastructure, reproducible research, Linux or HPC, and software development.
• Strong communication in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsabilités

• Lead AI/ML projects addressing clinical development, biomarker, and operational needs.
• Design, build, test, and refine deep learning models for text, graphs, sequences, and clinical data.
• Develop generative AI applications using foundation models and large language models.
• Run rigorous, reproducible AI experiments on internal/public datasets for publishable results.
• Partner with engineering to package methods into apps, platforms, scalable solutions.
• Mentor colleagues and represent the team in publications and collaborations.
