I-Coats NV in Berchem (Antwerp) is seeking an experienced R&D Project Manager to drive the development and implementation of tailor-made coatings for industrial applications. You will translate customer needs into high-performance solutions and supervise tests, ensuring quality from lab to production.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry or Materials Science, with several years in R&D or project-driven roles, and strong Dutch and English skills.

In this role, you will take a leading position in the development of coatings for customer-specific applications, operating at the intersection of R&D, customer experience and practical implementation. You will act both as a technical and quality expert and as a project lead, playing a key role in translating customer needs into high-performance and innovative coating solutions.

As R&D Project Manager, you will be end-to-end responsible for the development and implementation of tailor-made coatings for industrial applications.

Your responsibilities

• Develop advanced coatings in co-creation with customers, tailored to their specific applications and requirements.
• Analyze technical challenges and translate them into concrete development and testing trajectories.
• Work closely with the laboratory team in setting up, executing and interpreting tests. You will evaluate coating performance and make adjustments based on test results and customer feedback.
• Monitor and maintain quality standards regarding your projects.
• Identify new applications and innovation opportunities with both existing and prospective customers.
• Ensure a smooth transition from laboratory results to effective production and closely monitor the implementation process.
• Safeguard technical know-how and actively contribute to the further development of expertise within I-Coats' product niche.
• You take on a broader, hands-on part in the team, beyond your core responsibilities as Project Manager.
• Report directly to the Technical Director.

Your profile

• You hold a higher technical degree in a relevant field (preferably a Master's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science or similar).
• You have several years of experience in an R&D, application engineering or project-driven environment within a multidisciplinary context.
• You have a strong affinity with coatings and chemical formulations.
• You combine technical knowledge with a pragmatic mindset and a strong focus on applicability.
• You work in a structured manner and are capable of independently managing complex projects.
• You communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• You speak Dutch fluently.
• You have a good command of English and solid knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
