Fujitsu Belgium seeks an experienced AI Database Administrator/Engineer to support an innovative AI and data platform environment in Brussels. The contract runs for 60 man-days with potential extension into 2027, requiring hands-on PostgreSQL design, HA, vector databases, and integration of AI components.

You will design, install and manage PostgreSQL clusters, optimize queries, and implement robust backup/DR procedures while collaborating with Data Scientists, Architects and DevOps to ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands-on experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases and performance tuning.
• Experience with high availability, replication, clustering and fail‑over strategies.
• Familiarity with vector databases and pgvector concepts for AI workloads.
• Experience developing and integrating AI applications and data platforms.

For one of our customers, we are looking for an experienced AI Database Administrator / Engineer to support an innovative AI and data platform environment in Brussels.

Duration: 60 man-days, with a possible extension into 2027

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience with:

• PostgreSQL – administration, management and performance optimization
• High Availability – replication, clustering and fail-over
• pgvector and Vector Databases
• AI / LLM applications
• RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) architectures
• REST APIs and OpenAPI
• Python and Bash scripting
• Database performance tuning, query optimization and indexing
• Backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
• Integration of AI components into applications
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including Data Scientists, Architects and DevOps
• French – Mandatory / Fluent
• English – Mandatory / Fluent
• Dutch
• Experience with emerging AI technologies
• Experience with generative AI and vector database platforms
• Open-source contributions

As an AI Database Administrator / Engineer, you will:

• Design, install, configure and manage PostgreSQL database platforms
• Set up and maintain database clusters
• Monitor and optimize database performance
• Implement replication, high availability and fail‑over solutions
• Design and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures
• Optimize queries and indexes
• Configure and support vector database solutions
• Support AI workloads involving LLMs and RAG
• Contribute to AI data platforms and AI-enabled applications
• Translate business requirements into practical technical solutions
• Work closely with Data Scientists, Architects and DevOps professionals
• Ensure scalability, reliability and performance of AI database environments
• Promote continuous improvement, code quality and knowledge sharing
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or equivalent experience
• Strong hands‑on experience managing and optimizing PostgreSQL
• Proven expertise in database high availability, replication, clustering and fail‑over
• Strong knowledge of pgvector / vector database concepts
• Experience with AI application development and integration
• Solid understanding of ETL / ELT data engineering processes
• Experience with REST APIs and OpenAPI
• Strong Python and Bash scripting skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
• High attention to detail and commitment to code quality
• Understanding of AI performance factors such as latency and scalability
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
