University of Antwerp seeks a doctoral scholarship holder in the field of biobased sustainability engineering. You will prepare and defend a PhD thesis under the Department of Bioscience Engineering, drawing up research plans with your supervisor and pursuing funding opportunities.

You will publish results and contribute to ongoing research projects while teaching and assisting in departmental duties. The position starts 15 November 2026, with a one-year doctoral scholarship, access to Antwerp

Qualifications

• Master's degree in bioscience engineering or related discipline; candidates may apply with degree completed before start.
• Fluent in English (oral and written) with strong communication skills.
• Motivated to pursue research funding for a doctorate under supervision of SUSTAIN group.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and defend a PhD thesis in Bioscience Engineering.
• Draft a research plan with your supervisor and manage admin for PhD progress.
• Carry out research, possibly abroad, and seek funding for costs.
• Report progress to supervisors and committees; present at conferences.
