Methis Consulting Belgium is seeking an experienced Business/Functional Analyst with 4+ years of hands-on experience to join our Belgian team. You will bridge business and IT, translating complex challenges into well-documented solutions while working at client sites in energy and public transport sectors.

You will engage stakeholders, craft user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensure alignment across releases.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Business/Functional Analyst
• Master's degree in a relevant field or Bachelor's with equivalent experience
• Proven experience in requirements engineering: user stories, functional specs, BPMN
• Fluent English; Dutch or French plus the other language required
• Experience with Agile delivery and tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
• Experience with data analysis (SQL, Power BI) or testing methodologies

We are looking for an experienced Business or Functional Analyst with a minimum of 4 years' experience to join our Belgian team. You will work at our clients in the energy and public transport sectors — utilities, grid operators, energy suppliers, market facilitators and public transport operators — translating complex business challenges into workable, well-documented solutions. You are the bridge between business and IT: you talk to the people who own the process, you understand what the technology can and cannot do, and you make sure everyone ends up agreeing on the same thing.

Typical responsibilities

• Elicit, challenge and structure business requirements together with business stakeholders, product owners and end users
• Translate business needs into clear functional designs, user stories, process flows and acceptance criteria
• Analyse and document as‑is processes and data flows, and design the to‑be situation together with the client
• Act as the linking pin between business, IT teams, architects and external suppliers throughout the delivery cycle
• Support solution design decisions and safeguard functional consistency across releases and systems
• Prepare and coordinate functional and user acceptance testing: test scenarios, test execution support, defect triage and follow‑up
• Support change and adoption: training material, key‑user support, go‑live assistance and hypercare
• Contribute to project governance — planning input, progress reporting, risk and issue escalation
• Create and maintain solid documentation that survives after your assignment ends
• Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. business economics, engineering, IT, applied economics) or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Functional Analyst — minimum 4 years
• Demonstrable experience with requirements engineering: user stories, functional specifications, process modelling (BPMN or similar)
• You master Dutch or French and speak/understand the other language —must have
• Fluent English (working language on many of our projects)
• Experience working in Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban) and with tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira
• Strong stakeholder management: you can hold your own with a business owner and with a developer, on the same day
• Analytical, structured and pragmatic — you go for the solution that actually works in practice
• Comfortable in a consulting context: independent, client‑facing, and able to switch between assignments and domains
• Experience in the energy, utilities or public transport sector is a plus but no requirement — we will get you up to speed
• Knowledge of systems such as SAP, Salesforce, or of market processes and data models in energy/mobility, is a plus
• Certification such as IIBA (CBAP/CCBA), IREB CPRE or BCS is a plus
• Experience with data analysis (SQL, Power BI) or with testing methodologies is a plus
