Wlgroup in Belgium is seeking an experienced engineer to operate and support a cyber security application service on a day-to-day basis, including administration, troubleshooting, deployment of changes and data flows, plus building Power BI dashboards to support reporting for stakeholders.

You will work under the service area owner, onboarding a user community, maintaining the environment (RHEL, NGINX, Java, SQL), and coordinating with stakeholders to drive improvements while ensuring service

Qualifications

• At least three years in cyber security or a similarly demanding technical environment.
• Application administration and production support experience.
• Strong enterprise Linux—production servers, services, networking, logs and storage (RHEL 9).
• Power BI dashboard and report development experience.
• Database management with MS SQL or PostgreSQL, including data loading and transfer automation.
• Application deployment, patching and release management.
• IT service management practice—SLAs, incidents and changes.
• Fluent professional English.

This is the engineering post behind a cyber security application service: keeping it running day to day, deploying what changes, moving the data in and out, and building the reporting people actually open. Under the service area owner, you would carry the whole of it rather than one slice.

Part of the appeal is timing — the service is still bedding in, so there are procedures to establish and a user community to onboard, not just a runbook to follow.

What you would be doing

• Operate and support the application day to day — administration, troubleshooting, incident resolution and user support.
• Maintain and deploy it: updates, patches, installations, configuration changes and controlled removal when needed.
• Manage data and reporting — loading, transfers, validation, and building and improving Power BI dashboards.
• Support the technical environment: RHEL, NGINX, Java and SQL connectivity.
• Look after the user community, especially through initialisation and onboarding.
• Keep the operational documentation, configuration and procedures current.
• Provide service reporting and governance — indicators, service levels, risks and issues, and the regular service reviews.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across the agency, and find the improvements worth making.

What you would bring

• At least three years in cyber security or a comparably demanding technical environment.
• Application administration and production support, including transition into steady-state operations.
• Strong enterprise Linux — production servers, services, processes, networking, storage, permissions and logs; RHEL 9 administration in particular.
• Power BI dashboard and report development.
• Database management with MS SQL or PostgreSQL, and data loading, migration and transfer automation.
• Application deployment, patching and release management.
• IT service management in practice — service levels, incident and change management.
• Fluent professional English.

A degree in a related discipline with three years of post-related experience, or about five years of progressive experience instead. A RHEL 9 administration certification is desirable, as is experience taking an application through initialisation into a steady service.
