Lighthouse in Belgium is seeking a Lead Platform Engineer to accelerate frontend platform initiatives, migrate from Ember to React, and strengthen the design system while improving tooling, education, and guardrails that ensure high‑quality frontend code.

You will own AI‑assisted frontend tooling, enhance the frontend harness, and drive adoption through education and strong collaboration with product engineers and solution architects.

What You Will Do

As a Lead Platform Engineer you will lead frontend platform initiatives that help all frontend work move faster without compromising quality. This is a hands‑on builder and owner role focused on accelerating Lighthouse’s migration from Ember to React, strengthening the design system, and improving the tooling, education, and guardrails that help engineers and AI agents produce high‑quality frontend code. You will turn broad goals into clear, well‑documented plans; manage delivery and communicate progress; and partner with product engineers and solution architects to understand their needs and drive adoption. You will also own AI‑assisted frontend tooling, improve the frontend harness so more engineers can contribute safely, and invest in the shared foundations, infrastructure, and delivery pipelines that support product teams, generative UI, and AI agents.

• Help product teams migrate to React by educating engineers, building tooling and guardrails that improve speed and quality.
• Accelerate Lighthouse’s React migration with AI tooling while maintaining a high quality bar.
• Improve the consistency, maintainability, and reliability of frontend code produced by frontend engineers, other product engineers, and AI agents.
• Set direction for important initiatives, turning broad goals into actionable plans and balancing well‑reasoned decisions with openness to other perspectives.
• Shape new ways of working by improving the frontend harness and workflows for AI‑assisted development.
• Establish the foundations for generative UI so agents can assemble high‑quality views and dashboards from trusted design‑system components.
• Strengthen the design system as a dependable foundation for product experiences and AI‑generated interfaces.

You will join a small platform team whose mission is to provide the tools, education, and support that help product teams build the best user interfaces. The team owns shared frontend quality across work produced by engineers and AI agents, partnering closely with product engineers and solution architects to understand their needs, shape the roadmap, and drive adoption without working directly within each product team.

Who You Are

• Senior‑level frontend engineering experience enables you to independently turn an ambitious goal into a clear plan, direction, and delivered outcome.
• Strong professional experience with React and TypeScript allows you to guide other engineers toward effective patterns and high‑quality migration decisions.
• Expert fluency with at least one AI development tool is essential, including an understanding of how these tools work, where they fail, and how to create the context, workflows, and guardrails needed for good results.
• Your strong project‑management habits help you organise your own work, communicate progress, answer questions, document decisions, and keep complex initiatives moving.
• Working beyond application code is comfortable for you, including shared tooling, cloud infrastructure, and delivery pipelines.
• Clear communication and trusted relationships with product teams help you drive adoption through education, support and an understanding of product context.
• Pragmatic, leading, and product‑minded, you defend frontend best practices while choosing battles by impact, set direction collaboratively, and stay focused on making the product better.
• Taking initiative and inviting feedback come naturally, while you remain open‑minded when defending a well‑reasoned technical approach.

We welcome
