Athora Belgium's Investment Office seeks an Investment Analyst to support execution of the investment strategy and portfolio oversight. You will engage with key financial centers like London, New York and Zurich and help balance return objectives, risk, and regulatory requirements.

You will work with internal teams and external asset managers to optimise processes, update reporting, and translate market insights into strategic recommendations.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Investment Management or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, institutional investing, portfolio management or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of financial markets, investment products and derivatives.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is a plus.
• Willing to pursue CFA, CAIA, VBA or equivalent certification.

As an Investment Analyst, you will join Athora Belgium’s Investment Office, a team of five investment professionals with expertise across ALM, return-seeking assets, private assets and liquidity management. Reporting to the Head of Investments, you will support the execution of the investment strategy, contribute to portfolio oversight and optimisation, and help balance return objectives, risk management and regulatory requirements. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop your investment expertise, engage with key financial centers globally including London, New York and Zurich and invest in directly originated private investment opportunities in partnership with leading global asset managers, including Apollo Global Asset Management. Athora Belgium is part of Athora Group, a leading European life insurance consolidator with offices in Ireland, UK, Netherlands, Germany, and Italy.

Your responsibilities

• Preparing investment analyses, recommendations and presentations for management and the Asset & Liability Committee (ALCO) and other senior stakeholders.
• Monitoring portfolio performance, exposures, risk metrics and compliance with approved investment mandates and strategic asset allocation.
• Supporting portfolio construction activities, strategic asset allocation reviews, scenario analyses and other investment -related projects.
• Conducting qualitative and quantitative due diligence on investment funds, investment strategies and external asset managers.
• Monitoring financial markets, economic trends and investment opportunities, and translating findings into relevant investment insights and recommendations.
• Contributing to the assessment, monitoring and performance review of private market investments, including Private Credit, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Assets.
• Supporting Asset Liability Management (ALM) analyses to ensure alignment between investment strategy and insurance liabilities.
• Collaborating closely with internal stakeholders, including Risk Management, Finance, Actuarial, Legal and Operations teams.
• Maintaining effective relationships with external asset managers, investment funds, advisors and other market participants.
• Optimisation of investment processes, reporting frameworks and analytical tools through the use of technology and data driven solutions.

Your profile

• You hold a master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Investment Management or a related field.
• You have 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in investment banking, institutional investing, portfolio management or a related environment.
• You have a strong understanding of financial markets, investment products and derivatives.
• You are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Knowledge of Dutch and/or French is considered a plus.
• You are comfortable using Bloomberg and/or other financial market databases to analyse market development and able translate complex financial analyses into clear and actionable recommendations.
• You have a strong interest in Asset Liability Management (ALM) and/or Private Market investments, including Private Credit, Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Assets.
• You are analytical, structured and detail-oriented, with sound judgement and a entrepreneurial mindset.
• You possess excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
• You are able to build and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including Apollo Global Asset Management (Athora’s strategic asset management partner).
• You are committed to continuous professional development and are willing to further deepen your investment expertise.
• You hold, or are willing to pursue, a relevant professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA, VBA or an equivalent certification.
