VITO's CRIB team seeks an R&D Expert Construction Automation & Building Envelopes to shape the innovation roadmap for industrialised renovation and envelope solutions. You will connect research, industrial innovation, and valorisation into long-term strategy, coordinating cross-disciplinary activities and external partnerships.

Qualifications

• PhD or master’s degree in (civil) engineering, construction sciences, building technology, architectural engineering, product development, robotics.
• At least 10 years of experience in applied research, innovation strategy, industrial R&D, or technology development within the built environment.
• Strong experience with Flemish/European research funding programmes and collaborative proposal development.
• Ability to coordinate interdisciplinary teams and operate in complex stakeholder environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to connect research with the construction sector and policy actors.

Responsabilités

• Coordinate the CRIB strategic innovation roadmap with the team and informed by technologies and market needs.
• Identify emerging opportunities and translate into impactful research directions with long-term relevance.
• Connect exploratory research, applied innovation, and valorisation across the CRIB portfolio.
• Remain involved as senior researcher, innovation lead, or project coordinator on projects.
• Coordinate proposal writing for regional, national and European funded projects.
• Build interdisciplinary collaborations across VITO, EnergyVille, research, industry and public stakeholders.
• Support development and operation of strategic research infrastructure and digital platforms.
• Provide strategic guidance to CRIB team members and enhance visibility within innovation ecosystems.
