• Build durable relationships with business stakeholders, project stakeholders and team leads.
• Identify, analyse, document and validate existing business processes and user needs.
• Translate requirements into concrete business solutions through functional analyses and designs.
• Collaborate with technical team members to validate the functional design and translate it into technical specifications.
• Follow up end-to-end on the delivery of new functionalities and applications.
• Produce the documentation required throughout the different project phases.
• Work with business analysts and developers to refine and validate proposed solutions.
• Support project managers by reporting status, facilitating decisions, managing risks and escalating when needed.
• Write clear user stories and contribute to test analysis and test design activities.
• Model processes and functional flows with UML and BPMN, and contribute to customer journey analysis.

Tasks and responsibilities

Within a large-scale business transformation programme, we are looking for an experienced functional analyst to strengthen the current teams.

You will join a department of around 90 people and contribute to the handover, refactoring and greenfield delivery of new business applications in an Agile environment.

In this role, you will take ownership across the full project lifecycle and support the team through the following responsibilities:

• Building durable relationships with business stakeholders, project stakeholders and team leads.
• Identifying, analysing, documenting and validating existing business processes as well as new functional and non-functional user needs.
• Translating requirements into concrete business solutions through functional analyses and application designs.
• Collaborating with technical team members to validate the functional design and help translate it into technical specifications.
• Following up end-to-end on the delivery of new functionalities and applications.
• Producing the documentation required throughout the different project phases.
• Working closely with business analysts and developers, under the guidance of project managers and coordinators, to refine and validate proposed solutions.
• Supporting project managers by reporting status, facilitating decision-making, managing risks and escalating when needed.
• Writing clear user stories and contributing to test analysis and test design activities.
• Modelling processes and functional flows with techniques such as UML and BPMN, and contributing to customer journey analysis where relevant.

Deliverables

You are expected to deliver the following within agreed timelines:

• Analysis documentation
• Software requirements specifications, including diagrams and detailed analysis
• Data models
• User stories
• Test plans and test cases

Languages

• French or Dutch: active knowledge in understanding, speaking, writing technical documentation and reading, with strong command of at least one of these languages
• English: active knowledge, especially for written documentation
• Knowledge of the second national language is an asset

Your profile

You have solid experience as a functional analyst and are comfortable operating in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.

• Very strong functional and business analysis skills, with the ability to absorb complex information quickly
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills towards business and development teams
• Solution-oriented and customer-focused mindset
• Strong abstraction skills when dealing with complex topics
• Willingness to work across changing business contexts
• Ability to integrate smoothly into an existing team and guide junior colleagues
• Hands-on familiarity with Agile/Scrum ways of working
• Good command of functional analysis techniques, including UML, BPMN and user story writing
• Knowledge of Confluence, SQL, test analysis and test design
• Understanding of customer journeys and business needs elicitation
• Comfortable with technical terminology needed for functional analysis, such as APIs, mappings, business models, batch processing and services
• Exposure to environments using technologies such as J2EE, Java 8, Oracle, Hibernate, JUnit, Selenium, Maven, Git and Jira is an advantage
• Belgian nationality is required due to the nature of the activities
