Qplox engineering seeks an Automation Expert specializing in Operational Technology to manage, secure, and modernize critical maritime infrastructure, including bridges and locks.

You will work in a business-critical, highly regulated environment requiring uptime, safety, and continuous improvement of OT systems such as PLCs and SCADA, with a strong cybersecurity focus aligned to NIS/NIS2.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of demonstrable experience with automation technologies or comparable industrial automation tech.
• Siemens Step 7 Classic: minimum 5 years, hardware configuration and NetPro.
• Siemens TIA Portal: minimum 2 years, hardware setup and system communication.
• Siemens WinCC V7/V8: minimum 2 years, redundancy and PLC connectivity.
• Higher education in Electromechanical/Automation or equivalent experience.

Responsabilités

• Manage and maintain OT systems for control of bridges and locks.
• Implement and strengthen cybersecurity per NIS/NIS2 requirements.
• Perform updates, upgrades, and patching across OT technologies (PLC, SCADA, sensors, OPC).
• Develop and modify PLC and SCADA programs.
• Ensure reliability, safety, and service continuity in a highly regulated port environment.

Our client is looking for an Automation Expert specializing in Operational Technology (OT) to manage, maintain, secure, and further modernize critical maritime infrastructure, including bridges and locks.

You will work in a business-critical environment where availability, safety, and continuity of service are paramount. The role combines industrial automation expertise—including PLC, SCADA, and related technologies—with a strong focus on cybersecurity in line with NIS and NIS2 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain OT systems used for the control and operation of bridges and locks.
• Further implement and strengthen cybersecurity measures in accordance with NIS and NIS2 requirements.
• Perform system updates, upgrades, and patching across a range of OT technologies, including:
• PLCs and I/O systems
• Sensors
• PCs and SCADA software
• Engineering software
• OPC / Kepware
• Variable speed drives
• UPS systems
• Develop and implement modifications to PLC and SCADA programs.
• Maintain, secure, and continuously improve critical industrial automation systems.
• Contribute to the long-term modernization and reliability of the OT infrastructure.

You will operate within a demanding and highly regulated environment characterized by:

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience

• Siemens Step 7 Classic: minimum 5 years of experience, including:
• Hardware configuration
• Communication with other systems
• NetPro
• Siemens TIA Portal: minimum 2 years of experience, including:
• Setting up hardware systems
• Connections and communication between systems
• Siemens WinCC V7/V8: minimum 2 years of experience, with at least version 7.4, including:
• Hardware configuration of redundant systems
• PLC connectivity
• Station Configurator
• Higher education (Bachelor's or Master's degree) or equivalent professional experience.
• Degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
