Description du poste

Coordinator for the EU Food Policy Coalition

The EU Food Policy Coalition (EU FPC) is hiring a full-time Coordinator for its Brussels office.

  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Location: Flexible teleworking from Brussels with regular office presence required.

The EU FPC unites civil society organisations to advocate for sustainable food systems in the EU. It focuses on policy integration, coordinating efforts to monitor the political agenda, and influencing decision‑making for systemic change.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will develop and implement the strategic plan for the Coalition, oversee and steer activities of its 64 participating organisations, and manage the Coalition’s secretariat (Senior Programme Manager).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the Coalition’s strategic plan in close collaboration with participants, ensuring alignment with shared priorities and long‑term objectives.
  • Coordinate internal and external activities and events, including the preparation and drafting of policy positions with the support of participants.
  • Engage with EU decision‑makers and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor EU food policy developments and legislative processes, providing timely analysis to inform participants and identify strategic advocacy opportunities.
  • Organise, prepare, and support Executive Board and General Assembly meetings, including agenda‑setting, documentation, and follow‑up actions.
  • Occasionally represent the Coalition at public events and conferences.
  • Oversee and implement the Coalition’s communications strategy, including social media, newsletters, and external messaging.
  • Foster synergies with like‑minded platforms and networks, and proactively explore new partnerships and alliances.
  • Lead fundraising efforts, including identifying funding opportunities, cultivating donor relationships, and leading grant proposal development.
  • Oversee project implementation and office management of the Secretariat, ensuring smooth operations in collaboration with the Senior Programme Manager.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in a field relevant to the role.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in a relevant sector.
  • Strong understanding of EU decision‑making processes and EU food policy frameworks.
  • Proven experience in advocacy within the EU context, ideally with civil society organisations. An established professional network within EU institutions, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders in EU food policy and decision‑making is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Experience in coalition building, with the capacity to mobilise diverse organisations and foster collaboration.
  • Experience in fundraising, project management, and leading teams or initiatives.
  • Fluent in English (C1 or above); proficiency in additional EU languages (e.g., Spanish, French) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • Experience in participatory approaches, stakeholder engagement, and inclusive decision‑making.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and comfortable with digital collaboration tools.
Why Join the EU FPC?
  • A challenging and worthy cause to advocate for in a highly stimulating environment: you will assist systemic change and the shaping of future EU food policies.
  • The opportunity to work in an international and dynamic environment on a wide range of European topics and in interaction with diverse organisations.
What we offer
  • A 1‑year full‑time contract (38h), with extension foreseen based on performance and funding.
  • Flexible tele‑working with regular Brussels presence and prioritisation of work‑life balance.
  • Salary range between €4.400 and €4.900 gross, depending on experience.
  • Fringe benefits include: 13th month, pension scheme, hospitalisation insurance, public transport compensation, a teleworking allowance, lunch vouchers, and year‑end eco‑cheque and gift voucher.
Location

As our contracts are subject to Belgian law, candidates must be committed to official registration in Belgium and working from our Brussels office. We offer teleworking possibilities from home or abroad, subject to our remote working policy and organisational needs.

Candidates must hold EU citizenship or a valid EU work permit.
