UZ Leuven's Department of Thoracic Surgery invites applications for a fellowship in complex upper GI and esophageal surgery, offering open, minimally invasive and robotic esophagectomy in a high-volume center.

You will receive step-by-step operative teaching, progressive autonomy, and active involvement in clinical and translational research, with supervision of residents and participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards.

Qualifications

• Completed or nearing completion of a general/visceral/thoracic surgery residency.
• Strong interest in complex upper GI and esophageal surgery.
• Willingness to relocate to Leuven, Belgium for the duration.
• Academic interest and willingness to participate in clinical research.
• Dutch/French/German C1 proficiency required; fluent in English.

Responsabilités

• Engage in 3-4 days of clinical activity (outpatient clinic and OR) per week.
• Dedicate 1-2 days per week to academic activity, including research and teaching.
• Supervise rotating residents and participate in multidisciplinary meetings.
• Develop and conduct clinical or translational research projects.
