UCB is seeking an Environmental Regulatory Intelligence Lead to join our Environmental Sustainability team at the Brussels HQ. The role focuses on anticipating evolving regulations worldwide and turning insights into actionable guidance to support sustainable growth and compliant operations.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration with Legal, EHS, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, R&D, Procurement, Packaging, and Supply Chain, shaping governance, heatmaps, and dashboards for senior

Qualifications

  • Masters degree required or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience in environmental regulatory affairs, sustainability, or EHS compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of global environmental regulations and sustainability reporting frameworks.
  • Proven ability to assess regulatory risks and translate complex requirements into business actions.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and leading cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
  • Strong communication, portfolio management, and strategic decision-making skills in complex environments.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken; French is a plus.

Responsabilités

  • Own the regulatory intelligence portfolio— monitor, identify, and validate emerging environmental sustainability regulations across local, regional, and global levels.
  • Turn signals into action— oversee AI-enabled intelligence tools and translate validated signals into clear, actionable insights relevant to UCB.
  • Prioritise by impact and risk— qualify regulatory signals based on business impact, compliance risk, timelines, and organisational exposure.
  • Coordinate across functions— connect Legal, EHS, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, R&D, Procurement, Packaging, and Supply Chain to ensure integrated, consistent responses.
  • Drive response strategy— define with UCB experts the mitigation and implementation plans, secure resources, and ensure timely, accountable execution.
  • Escalate and support decisions— bring critical, ambiguous, or cross-functional matters through governance channels to enable enterprise-level decisions.
  • Provide management visibility— maintain dashboards, regulatory heatmaps, and forward-looking roadmaps for senior stakeholders.
  • Represent UCB externally— engage in industry associations, regulatory forums, and advocacy initiatives to monitor and help shape policy developments.
  • Ensure traceability and audit readiness— maintain structured tracking, documentation, and reporting to support compliance and inspection readiness.
  • Build capability and improve continuously— support onboarding and awareness-building, and refine workflows, governance, and digital tooling over time.

We are looking for an Environmental Regulatory Intelligence Lead who is strategic, analytical, and collaborative to join our Environmental Sustainability team, based at our UCB HQ located in Brussels, Belgium.

About the role:

As Environmental Regulatory Intelligence Lead, you will play a critical role in helping UCB anticipate, understand, and respond to evolving environmental regulations worldwide. You will oversee environmental regulatory intelligence across topics including climate change, pollution control, circular economy, biodiversity, sustainable packaging, ESG reporting, and environmental sustainability procurement. You will turn emerging regulatory developments into actionable business insights, ensuring UCB remains compliant while supporting sustainable growth and informed decision‑making across the organization.

Who you will work with:

You will work closely with Environmental Sustainability experts, Regulatory Affairs, Corporate Affairs, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement, Legal, EHS, Manufacturing, and R&D teams. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, industry associations, and regulatory bodies to strengthen environmental regulatory preparedness and help shape UCB's sustainability agenda.
