Spektrum is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to own and optimize threat data pipelines for NATO CIMAT. You will design, ingest, normalize, and enrich data feeds, while guiding the MISP community and leading operators during live exercises.

The role requires extensive Python experience, strong cybersecurity knowledge, and the ability to work onsite in Mons, Belgium. Join a mission-critical program with multinational collaboration.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years designing and managing data pipelines.
  • 10+ years leading data-focused operations and projects.

  • English proficiency at professional NATO level.
  • Bachelor's degree + 3 years' relevant experience or 10+ years equivalent.

Responsabilités

  • Design, build, and maintain pipelines ingesting threat data from diverse sources.
  • Develop Python automation integrating MISP with SIEM, IDS, and other NATO subsystems.
  • Normalize heterogeneous feeds into consistent schemas; enforce data quality (dedup, confidence scoring, indicator lifecycle, provenance).
  • Maintain documentation on MISP taxonomies, galaxies, and data-entry best practices.
  • Provide SME guidance to NATO MISP community members on data curation/dissemination.
  • Lead teams of MISP Operators during live exercises (daily feedback, quality control).
  • Plan and deliver MISP training sessions.

The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO’s member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The NCIA provides a wide range of services, including:

  • Cyber Security: The NCIA provides advanced cybersecurity solutions to protect NATO’s communication networks and information systems against cyber threats.
  • Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO’s military commanders to plan and execute operations.
  • Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
  • Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO’s mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
  • Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO’s information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Overall, the NCIA plays a critical role in ensuring the security and effectiveness of NATO’s communication and information technology capabilities.

Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)

The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.

To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise’s: NATO International Civilians (NIC)’s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)’s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.

Role Background

This role sits in NATO’s Cyber Incident Management Analysis Team (CIMAT) as a Senior Data Engineer supporting NATO’s MISP threat intelligence platform. You’ll own the data pipelines that ingest, normalize, and enrich threat intelligence feeds, and act as a subject-matter expert to the broader NATO MISP user community.

Role Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Skills, Experience and Certifications
  • 10+ years designing/managing data pipelines (transformation, models, schemas, metadata, workload management)
  • 10+ years supporting/leading data-focused operations and projects
  • Strong Python scripting
  • Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and technologies
  • English proficiency to NATO STANAG 6001 Level 3 (“Professional Proficiency”)
  • Bachelor’s degree + 3 years’ relevant experience, or 10+ years equivalent progressive expertise in lieu of degree
Desirable
  • Experience with MISP core format / STIX
  • Cyber threat intelligence analyst or incident responder background
  • Splunk experience
  • Experience with multinational cyber exercises (Locked Shields, Crossed Swords, Cyber Coalition)
  • MISP sysadmin experience; Python/PHP development for MISP
  • Open-source community engagement
