ClearSource in Belgium is seeking an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer for a hybrid role with on-site presence once a week in the Ghent–Tielt area. The role is open-ended freelance or permanent, requiring deep expertise in Azure, IaC (Bicep/Terraform), ACA, networking, and security.

You will design, implement and maintain scalable cloud solutions, support cloud-native apps or IaaS, and ensure availability, performance, and cost efficiency across environments.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud design/implementation.
• Proficiency with IaC (Bicep, Terraform) and cloud security practices.
• Experience with Azure Container Apps and containerized workloads.

Hybrid, Belgium (can be based in several possible locations around Belgium).The role requires on-site presence once a week in the Ghent–Tielt area

We are looking for an experienced Azure Cloud Engineer with a strong background in Infrastructure as Code (Bicep and Terraform), and Azure Verified Model , Azure Container Apps (ACA), networking and security. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills, ensuring seamless collaboration with both internal teams and business stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is not only technically proficient, but also highly transparent, proactive, and communicative, fostering trust and alignment across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable Azure cloud solutions.
• Support and help manage cloud-native applications or IaaS implementations.
• Ensure high availability, performance, and cost efficiency across cloud environments.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Build and maintain reusable, modular IaC using:
  • Bicep / Terraform
• Leverage Azure Verified Modules where applicable.
• Promote automation, version control, and CI/CD integration.

Networking

• Continuous contribution on Azure networking components management:
  • Virtual Networks, Subnets, NSGs
  • Firewall, Gateways and Load Balancing aspects
• Ensure secure and optimized connectivity (hybrid and cloud-native).

Security

• Contribute to cloud security best practices implementation and enforcement:
  • Identity and Access Management (Entra-ID, RBAC, PIM)
  • Zero Trust principles
• Monitor, detect, and remediate vulnerabilities and threats.
• Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance standards are met.

Operations & Optimization

• Promote and support adoption of policies
• Monitor workloads and optimize performance and cost.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across infrastructure and applications.
• Continuously improve reliability and operational maturity of the team.

• Transparent communication: clearly share progress, blockers, and decisions.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure.
  • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform)
  • Cloud security practices
  • Cloud networking architecture
• Experience with Azure Container Apps (ACA) and containerized workloads.
• Experience with APIM.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).

Assets

• Experience using Azure Verified Modules.
• Experience with containersmanagement.
• Certifications (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, security-related certs).
